All male POV novels are a double edged sword for me. While I love having the male narration the entire way, I often find that the heroine is not portrayed in such a way that I commend the male on selecting that particular female in his sights. So surprisingly, I really liked Kathryn Delcour in Adam's Apple. As a matter of fact, I wasn't a big fan of Adam initially and thought he was an entitled and self-centered, arrogant man. While those qualities generally do not turn me off, Adam's overall vibe was off-putting because I had no sense of the depth of his character underneath.

Once Kathryn enters the picture and it becomes obvious that she is more than just a catch, she is the embodiment of feminism and empowerment with a strong backbone after suffering from grief, the real Adam comes out from behind the shadows. Once Adam starts to lay all of his cards on the table and prove himself worthy of loyalty, commitment and trust, then I became attached to him and wanted to see this guy succeed in wooing Kathryn. Because there's something very appealing about a vulnerable man who is afraid to show his emotions and lays himself bare.

While the storyline isn't particularly unique or has unforeseen twists, because it was definitely predictable, I enjoyed the growth of these 2 characters and how their relationship developed. I look forward to seeing Adam unravel further into the man he was meant to be.

I just want to start out by saying W-O-W! The cover of this book is what initially attracted me to it, very sexy, and then when I read the blurb... I knew I was hooked. It was a very sensual, fun, fast paced read that I didn't want to put down. The fact that it's also told thru the Hero's perspective is also very neat, different than what I've read lately.

You start off by learning about Adam, the Hero, and how he's this big pompous New York City Playboy. Women flock to him by their knees; they give - he receives. Seems that's the way hes lived his life for years. Recent events have turned his life upside down though, due to one of his college friends Simon, and also business partner deceiving him and the company they both built (along with 2 other friends from College). Suddenly, Simon has all of this hatred and lashes out towards Adam, and he has no idea why.

Then, Adam meets Kathryn. A widowed Tantra teacher with a doctorate in psychology, who has the demeanor of Scarlet O'Hara from Gone with the Wind. I loved her immediately, also loved how the author threw in that she is a Vanderbilt. The Anderson Cooper bit had me rolling. She's a very strong, take no crap from anyone kind of woman who's trying her damnedest to keep her distance from Mr. the surly Mr. Kingsley, but the more he pursues her, he himself begins to change for the better, and she can't help but fall for him.

I loved everything! It had all of the essentials for me, 2 people from different worlds finding middle ground to be with each other. All of the characters were very fun and realistic, Ms. Morris did an amazing job for her debut novel! I will definitely recommend this to friends (as I've done so already) and can't wait to read more from her.

Notes I made -

-I like how in this story the Hero's driver wasn't also his super almighty powerful bodyguard. Like in some other books I've read, that character seems to be able to do it all. When Kinglsey actually DID have to have a bodyguard, he hated it and it was hilarious. "Goliath" - Ha!

-I'm totally going to use the line "Who blew sunshine up your ass" now - I've never heard that, it's great LOL.

"Kathryn huffs as she looks at me with daggers in her eyes, likely plotting my death" - Adam
LOL!

"I think who I am today has everything to do with you, and actually nothing to do with me" - Adam
The author makes it so easy to fall in love with him, it'd be great if we all had an Adam.

“The goal in Tantra is to unit different areas into one as we, I mean, couples make love. The aim is to open our minds and spiritual side while having sex combining the two. The key word is open. Freeing oneself.”
Well.... damn that was hott. Seriously sexy as hell, but not that in your face kind of sexy- more sensuous and truly erotic. I loved that it was told from the man's POV, the way his thoughts and feeling morphed throughout the course of the book was fascinating. It was really quite an experience, sure to land Liv Morris on my favorites list for a long long time.

Karma. I have to laugh. I, of all people, know too well about karma and it's legend. However, I've chosen to operate under the old proverb of an eye for an eye. Karma requires no action and the hope of a chance. I rely on one thing in this world my actions. I will leave nothing to chance and prefer playing the game of life with the strongest hand possible.

Adam Kingsley has worked hard to get where he is today- a self made billionaire with New York at his feet. Nobody knows about the demons of his past resulting from his mothers death or his well known father who has never acknowledged his existence. All they see is money and power with a trail of discarded women and panties in his wake.

I've burned through women like a wildfire roaring across a dry forest. Nothing has stood in my way. My passions have been all-consuming as I've indulged myself in all kinds of debauchery. I might think about settling down in a few years, maybe. But, for now, I'm content to sample the choice delights surrounding me. What single man in my shoes wouldn't say the same? Temptation is just too f****** tempting for me.

And that's all he wants them to see. He hasn't gotten close to anyone since his mother and woman are nothing more than a release to him. But Adam's carefully controlled life is starting to unravel. First a betrayal by a longtime friend/business partner, and then he meets the woman who is about to turn his world upside down-he just doesn't know it yet.

The way she looks at me is intriguing, a confidence only acquired with time and experience. Everything about her fascinates me, and her sudden appearance on the social scene bewilders me. But most importantly right now, her body ha totally aroused mine. This combination almost never happens...

Kathryn Delcour is a beautiful, sexy as sin mystery to Adam. New to the social scene, and pre-warned of his playboy ways, shes quick to put him in his place which does but intrigue him further. A little digging provides him with some surprising information on her-she an instructor in the art of Tantra which explains some of her comments to him at their initial meeting.

“I wonder, Mr. Kingsley. Do the women you frolic with have a release? Do you make them come so hard they forget their name? Or did you leave them with nothing? Not even a parting gift or their dignity as you shuffle them out of your limo onto the sidewalk. The truth is all the money you possess can't make you a man.”

He has to learn more about her, just being around her is not only highly arousing, but it's stirring up feelings in him he hasn't felt in a very long time. Kathryn tries her best to keep him at a distance, she will not become one of his backseat conquests. But his alluring charms paired with his persistence is hard to resist and he is determined to explore this pull he feels to her.

I long to share my true thoughts, telling her that until I met her last night I've never felt anything more than a physical attraction towards another woman. This pull I feel towards her is something very different. I have no words to define it.

Just when he thinks his life can't spiral any further out of control, threats to his business turn to threats on his life and leaves him feeling more vulnerable than ever. The only thing keeping him grounded is Kathryn, now he just needs to convince her of that.

From the very beginning this book firmly gripped my attention. The chemistry between Adam & Kathryn was off the charts and made for some very steamy scenes. I loved that she had no problem calling him on his crap and cut right through to the heart of him. The ending was not cliffhanger per say but it was kind of abrupt, left me with lots of questions and salivating for more. The entire book was just beautifully written and I loved every minute if it, I can't believe it was the authors debut-I look forward to reading much much more from her.

While holding her I realize I've never wanted a woman to be mine before. Only mine. But I've never met a woman like Kathryn before, either. My feelings for her are foreign and unrecognizable. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I wonder if I might me falling in love with her.
